Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior political figure commented the attack rendered him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
